Dear District M,N, and O, Mission Coordinators

Our CTC numbers for reporting our census are very low.  That means that those who are reporting for each individual UMW local group, have not yet turned in their census. Please send an email to each of your local presidents, please do this as soon as you can get to a computer to complete this task. 125th Anniversary of the Deaconess Movement

Dear UMW Friends,

Recently I received a letter from the Office of Deaconess and Home Missioner stating that they are celebrating the 125th anniversary of the deaconess movement in the Methodist tradition.  They are asking us to celebrate with them in our local UMW organizations, our districts and our conference.

Today, nearly 200 active service deaconesses and home missioners across the U.S. devote their lives to Christ-like service, filling a vital and important role in the mission and ministry of The United Methodist Church.  Their theme for this year of celebration is “Love, Justice, and Service,” echoing the ongoing commitment to cutting–edge ministries by deaconesses and home missioners.

response magazine will feature a series of articles on deaconess and home missioner ministries beginning with the February 2013 issue.  Other materials are available on their website deaconess@unitedmethodistwomen.org.

Pat Hoerth, the spiritual director for the upcoming CTC UMW Spiritual Growth event, March 15-16 is a deaconess and a trained spiritual director.  There is an article in the March response beginning on page 36 that mentions Turtle Rock Farm in Oklahoma where Pat resides.  We hope you will join us for this inspiring retreat and take this opportunity to get acquainted with one of our deaconesses.  For registration information go to ctcumw.org.

Also, I hope many of you will join us May 18 for the 2nd annual UMW Workday at United Community Centers.  A flyer for this event is on the ctcumw.org website.

Blessings to each of you as you continue your Lenten journey.

Linda Hutchings

CTC UMW President
