Greetings and wishes for a happy summer to each of you.  We’ve had some heat but also some showers and cool weather.  I hope each of you has had some time off to do some fun and relaxing things this summer.  My family celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary last month with an all-family trip, all eleven of us.  It was great to be away and enjoy one another’s company.

We’ve all heard the cry “Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country!”  But here’s the United Methodist Women’s version, “Now is the time for all United Methodist Women to register for Mission u!”

Three great studies with wonderful study leaders are planned in three locations in August.  The Genesis UMC day event is August 6 and 7 from 8am to 4pm.  The evening event is August 5, 6, 7 from 6pm to 8pm.

The Glen Lake Mission u event is Sat., August 10 from 8am to 5pm and the Sunday class is August 11 from 8am to 4pm.  The registration and snacks for Glen Lake will be in Siceloff Hall instead of the Reception Room by the cafeteria as in recent past years.  Several 6 passenger golf carts have been reserved and will be ready and waiting for you.

The Temple event is at First UMC of Temple.  The day event is August 13 and 14 from 8am to 4pm.  The evening event is August 12 – 14 from 6pm to 8pm.  There will be a silent auction for missions at each location and each day Mission u event, so bring something fun for that.

The studies this year are The Roma of Europe, Living Sacramentally, Walking Justly and Poverty.  The study books will be available at each event or online at  It’s always good to read the study books ahead of time if possible.  This year the studies, like Proverbs, “will provide insightlul instruction, which is righteous, just, and full of integrity.”  (Proverbs 1:3 CEB)

I’m looking forward to seeing each of you at this year’s mission u.  Please register now for this informative and wonderful time of learning and celebration of fellowship called Mission u at

Also on the horizon is the CTC UMW Annual Autumn Gathering at Genesis UMC on Oct. 5.  Great plans are in place to make that an exciting and informative day of celebration with great speakers and music.  Please put that on your calendar and plan to come.  Hope to see you soon.
