The Details Make the Difference

A Sharing from  Judy Graham

Our idea of Love and God’s idea of Love are often very different. We may think that a long as we don’t
hit anyone or do anything major, we are walking in Love. God, however wants us to be Loving in our
everyday interactions. He wants Love to effect even the details o our lives. That’s why He tell us in 1
Corinthians 13:5 (Amplified) that Love isn’t rude, it is not unmannerly, it doesn’t act unbecomingly.
That’s not Emily Post talking or Mis Manners giving us a suggestion we can ignore. That is GOD
speaking to us from The Bible and requiring us to be courteous toward other people. It is God
commanding us to not be rude.
Even when we are in restaurant and the service is bad….even when the phone solicitor calls during
dinner…. Even when we want some peace and quiet and the neighbors are having a party…we are not
allowed to be rude. We can say something in those situations if necessary. We can point out a problem
or make a courteous request. Yet in doing so we must be sure we do it kindly and in love.
You might say,” I know it was mean, but I was irritated” but that really is no excuse. If it were a person of
authority like your boss you wouldn’t say hey you jerk, this memo is wrong!... (at least you shouldn’t. If
you can control yourself in those situations. You are control yourself in all situations, We are in control
o our mouths, our actions, our lives

We must God LOVE kid of thinning into the ret o our lives. We must realize that when we are
discourteous to those around us it costs us dearly. It costs us our Christian witness (who wants to hear
about Gods Love from someone who just cursed at someone else or who was unkind to them. It costs us
the opportunity to brighten someone else’s day. MOST Importantly it costs us the opportunity of
I recall a story of a group of Pastors traveling together. They stopped in a restaurant in their travels to
get a bite to eat. The waitress assigned to them was “having a bad day”. Slamming down water glasses
with grunts and asking abruptly, “WHAT”, “are you having (or something to the affect). The Pastors
knowing GOD IS LOVE, stopped. One said, “hold on here something is wrong with this young lady”.
They prayed for her and upon her next approach slowed her down. “Just a minute”, they beckoned, “we
just happen to be a couple a Pastors and we were wondering … could we Pray for you about anything”….
Immediately she broke down and cried... The rent was due with no help or way to pay amidst a myriad
of other problems. The Pastors were able to minister and pray with the young lady whose whole
disposition and service changed. Upon leaving the pastors gathered and gave a abundant large tip for
the young lady and HOPED as they let that it would assist and BLESS her. THAT is the difference we
should be making in the lives of others. It does not have to always b monetary but when we see
someone hurting ... we must reach. With The LOVE of GOD Remember Proverbs 15 : 1 ( Common
English Bible) says, A sensitive answer turns away wrath, but an o0fensive word stirs up anger. Th
tongue of the wise enhances knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes with folly (ESV) . The LORDS
eyes are everywhere keeping watch on evil and good people. James chapter 3 speaks about our mouths
how (verse 9) , with it, the tongue, we both bless the Lord and Father and curse human beings made in
God’s likeness. Blessing and cursing come from the same mouth. my brothers and sisters – The Word of
God states- in verse 10. This should not be so! Verse 11 finalizes the TRUTH- James 3:11 Fresh water
and salt water don’t come from the same spring, do they? – My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree
produce olives? Can a grapevine produce figs? Of course not, and fresh water doesn’t flow from a
saltwater spring either.

Finally, be ye all of one mind, having companion one of another. Love as brethren, be pitiful, be
courteous, not rendering evil or evil or railing for railing but contrariwise BLESSING knowing that ye

are there unto called, that ye should inherit a BLESSING
